Our Story

Supporting brighter futures through early intervention

Counselling for children with Lighthouse

Little Lighthouse Counselling was founded with a clear and heartfelt purpose: to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, young people, and families by providing timely, compassionate mental health support.

With over 12 years of experience working across a range of mental health settings, our founder, Sammi, saw first-hand the growing demand for services and the challenges many families face when trying to access help. Long waiting times—particularly within services such as CAMHS—can often mean that young people are left without the support they need at crucial moments, allowing difficulties to deepen over time.

It became clear that something needed to change.

Little Lighthouse Counselling was created to offer early intervention, ensuring that children and young people can access support when they need it most—not months down the line. By providing a responsive and accessible service, we aim to reduce the risk of challenges escalating and instead support positive, healthy development from an earlier stage.

As the practice has grown, so has our commitment to improving access to mental health support. We recognised that the transition into adulthood can bring its own unique challenges, which is why we extended our services to support young people up to the age of 25. This allows us to continue offering guidance during a pivotal time of change, growth, and self-discovery.

At the heart of everything we do is a simple but powerful goal: to help create a better future for the children and young people we work with. We are passionate about supporting each individual to feel heard, understood, and empowered—helping them to make positive, lasting changes and move forward with confidence.

Little Lighthouse Counselling is more than a service—it’s a place of support, hope, and opportunity for brighter tomorrows.
